PayPal API to OFX - Creating an API signature.

An API signature consists of an API user-name along with an associated API password and signature, all of which are assigned by PayPal. You need to include this information whenever you execute a PayPal API operation. Follow the steps below to create an API signature.


  1. Log in to PayPal, then click Profile under My Account.
    • On the new site, click the Wallet link (top menu bar).

    • Then click on the Classic Site link (bottom menu bar on the left).

  2. Click My selling preferences then click on Update next to API Access

  3. In the next dialog, ensure the option Request API signature is selected then click on the Agree and Submit button.

  4. The final dialog does not display your credentials by default, click on Show to dispaly your credentials in turn. Click on Done when finished, having taken note of your credentials.
